Four Vintage Replica Watches UK Sale

As the 2015 auction calendar comes to its end, New York City takes center stage. While the much awaited Speedmaster auction takes place at at Christie’s next week, there’s also a more under-the-radar sale at Bonhams today – and this catalog may have been slightly overlooked, so there’s a chance here for collectors to find great vintage replica watches without too much bidding competition. Let’s take a look at four lots you should watch out for this afternoon, including a very interesting Omega Replica Speedmaster with a bearish estimate.

Patek Philippe Replica Reference 3417 Amagnetic

Patek Philippe Replica Reference 3417 Amagnetic UK

Quirky would probably be the best word to describe the Amagnetic from Patek Philippe. It combines the classical elegance of a dress watch with a characteristic (resistance to magnetic fields) of a tool watch, something absolutely unique in Patek’s offering until the introduction of the Nautilus in the mid-1970s. First, the case is in stainless steel, a very rare metal for vintage Pateks. Even more unusual, the Patek reference 3417 is actually resistant to magnetic fields, much like the Rolex Milgauss, the IWC Ingenieur, and the Omega Railmaster – but none of these have the classic elegance of this Patek. In addition, the example offered features a double-signed dial, bearing the mention of the Swiss retailer Beyer in the seconds register, a characteristic that usually enhances the collectibility of vintage watches. Unfortunately, it also seems that the minute hand is lightly corroded.

Estimate range is between $12,000 and $18,000, well below the prices that we had reported in our coverage of the Complete Guide to the Amagnetic – especially when you account for the fact that the original box and papers will be included with this lot.

Replica Universal Geneve Triple Calendar Reference 22536

The charms of the Tri-Compax from Universal Geneve are probably well known to you; if not, a quick glance at the dial would be enough to discover them. This model has a great, very balanced design, managing to neatly arrange nothing less than a triple calendar, a chronograph, and a moon-phase indication in a moderately sized case. This leads us to the reason we picked this example: it has an additional 3 mm in the diameter of the case, reaching 38 mm instead of the customary 35 mm. The dial of this example displays a nice patina, as it should; however, the lume dots are somewhat mysterious. Those are obviously uniform and aged but I find their uneven alignment with the indexes perplexing, especially at six and eleven o’clock. The other dials that I could find from this reference did not bear those dots – so they might have been an initial request of the original client, and hastily placed before the replica Omega watch got delivered.

Baume & Mercier Replica Triple Calendar Chronograph In Pink Gold

Baume & Mercier might not be the first brand to come to mind when it comes to vintage watches, but this chronograph with triple calendar proves that this perception is sometimes unfair. This watch basically has a similar look to the very rare Rolex Dato Compax reference 4768, but for a tiny fraction of the price. In addition, this Baume & Mercier comes here in a very dressy pink-gold case, the warmth of the metal emphasizing the beautiful curves of the down-turned, fluted lugs. I would nonetheless watch out for the lower right lug, which seems strangely bent. Something to consider? If this bracelet is GF-signed, it could be worth more than the watch itself to the right collector.

Replica Omega Speedmaster Reference 145022-68ST Racing Dial

This Omega Replica Speedmaster Professional is expected to find a new owner between $3,000 and $5,000 here, but this estimate will likely be blown away. In short, this is probably the most underrated lot of this auction, especially considering what is about to happen next week at Christie’s.
